On May 7, on the Radio and Communications Day, Tatarstan Ministry of Information and Communications together with regional enterprises of the industry summed up the interim results of the work and set main tasks for the further development of the industry.
Deputy Prime Minister of the republic – Tatarstan Minister of Information and Communications Roman Shaykhutdinov introduced a new head of Tattelecom Company, former Aide to Tatarstan President, Airat Nurutdinov. Nurutdinov was appointed to the new post by the decision of the Board of Directors of the company and replaced Lutfulla Shafigullin, who headed the company since 2006.
Shaykhutdinov expressed his gratitude to Shafigullin for his great contribution to the development of the telecommunication industry in the republic and helped the Tattelecom to rank first in communication services in Tatarstan.
Shaykhutdinov informed about the federal projects of Digital Economy of the Russian Federation national programme, where Tatarstan takes an active part. The Minister urged enterprises to take an active part in the processes of digital transformation of the region in order to improve the quality of life of the population, the competitiveness of the economy and to establish a global digital space.
The Minister focused on the main areas of work of the industry, namely the development of broadband Internet access, which penetration rate is currently 77 per cent.
Shaykhutdinov also touched upon such pressing issues as mobile service, transition to digital television broadcasting and many other issues.
At the end of the meeting, the employees of the industry were handed in the awards.
